Dr. Mekota specializes in psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for a range of clinical and forensic referrals. He specializes in adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Common clinical neuropsychological referrals include:
-Dementia/memory concerns
-Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) 
-Traumatic brain injury/concussion
-Epilepsy
-Neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders

 

Dr. Mekota performs evaluations for a wide range of forensic and medicolegal issues. Common forensic referrals include:
-Personal injury
-Criminal defense
-Mitigation in sentencing
-Competency to stand trial
-Violence risk and sexual risk
-Fitness for duty/return to work
-Adult guardianship/competency

 

Dr. Mekota also provides individual psychotherapy and supervises PBHS clinicians. He is trained in both cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). He is presently the Director of Dual Diagnosis Services and Director of Neuropsychology at PBHS.

 

Dr. Mekota completed his undergraduate education in Psychology at John Carroll University and doctoral education in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
