Out and About!

Firstly, we wish you a very happy new year!

To start our year, the team has been busy throughout the community: Last week, Clinical Director and CEO, Dr. Farshid Afsarifard and Adolescent Services Director, Staci Tessmer, traveled to Geneva High School for a staff presentation on Mindfulness. This presentation stresses the importance of mindfulness in every day life and how to incorporate this skill when working with tomorrow's future leaders. It has been a pleasure working with the talented staff at Geneva and we wish them a wonderful second semester.

On Saturday, Dr. Laura Burns and Shannon Matsko attended John Carroll University for the annual counseling fair. Throughout the years, many JCU students have chosen PBHS as their practicum site. During this time, they focus on learning true Dialectical Behavior Therapy along with the principals that PBHS was founded on. Often times, these practicum students turn into staff and add tremendous experience and compassion to our team. Our office is proud to have many JCU alum on board and look forward to the incoming practicum students!

We will be featuring a Q&A section throughout our website and Facebook page, along with in the News Herald Health Talks section in the Sunday paper. We encourage you to write in to: with your behavioral health questions. Until next time!
