Ask us: I'm having chest pains and it almost feels like I'm having a heart attack. My doctor
It sounds like you're experiencing anxiety which may be due to stress. We live in a stressful world and our response to stress can be both physical and psychological. We often treat the physical problems and don't focus on the psychological issues that contribute to it. In dealing with anxiety and responding to stress effectively, we need to treat mind, body, and spirit. One of the most effective forms of treatment is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). It consists of a set of coping skills that help manage day-to-day stressors of life. We cannot always control the amount of stress in our lives, but we can manage our response to it. Learning to develop coping skills and mindfulness meditation can alter your physical response to stress, such as the tightening in your chest.
At PBHS, I work with patients in our own MBSR Intensive Outpatient Program. This program helps
individuals who have anxiety, panic, depression often caused by stress. MBSR is an effective form
of treatment for physical disorders such as fibromyalgia, migraines, insomnia, and physical pain which
are often made worse by stress. Patients who participate in this program often report that it is a life altering experience which has helped them to restore their health and manage their challenges more
effectively. It is our goal at Premier Behavioral Health Services to help people create a life worth living.
So, if you or someone you love is struggling with these issues please contact us, and we will schedule an assessment within 24 hours of your call and develop a comprehensive treatment plan that meets your specific needs.
